The training was spearheaded by TU-K’s Directorate of Human Resource Services and Registry, in partnership with facilitators from the National Productivity and Competitiveness Centre (NPCC), a unit under the State Department for Labour and Skills Development, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
Participants included the Committee Chair, Prof. Cleophas Maende; Secretariat Mr. Stephen Karanja; Faculty representatives; and officials from the three staff unions: Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU), University Academic Staff Union (UASU), and the University Welfare Association and staff drawn from other sections of the University.
The programme covered critical areas such as the concept of productivity mainstreaming, productivity measurement, productivity index computation and development of an improvement among other areas. The Committee members validated the data for the productivity matrix developed in the 2023/2024 Financial Year. The set of productivity metrics were designed to identify institutional priorities based on the strategic objectives, paving the way for continuous improvement and more impactful service delivery.
By investing in this training, TU-K reinforces its commitment to improving operational efficiency, labour production and customer participation by evolving demands of public service performance.
