Their collections demonstrated how discarded materials can be transformed into high-quality fashion pieces, reducing textile waste while minimising the cost of using new fabrics. Ag. Thematic Leader, Fashion, Clothing and Textile, Naomi Wangari Njuguna, noted that the showcase aligns with the department's ongoing METODIC Project titled; Strengthening the Links Between Industry and Academia for a Sustainable Textile Sector that Promotes Circular Economy in Sub-Saharan Africa.
She said the project strengthens collaboration between industry and academia while equipping students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to promote sustainable practices and circular production models in the fashion and textile sector.
