The School of Business and Management Studies imparts creative and innovative training in business and management that develops knowledge, skills, competence, and attitudes that enable students to achieve competitive edge in the national, regional and global markets. The staff and students are committed to living up to the highest ideals of citizenship and to seeking to be trustworthy, respectful, honest and socially responsible members of society. The School is one of the largest schools in the University with a combined student population of more than 3,000 in both the full and part-time programmes. The School has 60 full-time and 46 sessional teaching staff, and 11 non-teaching staff. We have a well trained and qualified staff consisting of two Professors, one Senior Lecturer, 13 Doctorates, and 32 Masters Degree holders, 12 of who are currently pursuing their PhD degrees in business and management studies in various local and international universities. In addition to supporting the four departments in the School, the lecturers also service other Schools in the University in their business, management, and entrepreneurship course offerings.
The School offers business, management, and related courses in both full and part-time programmes with part-time classes running from 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm on weekdays and from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm on Saturdays. Most of our courses run on semester basis although there are a few that still run on term basis. We offer courses at Degree, Diploma, Advanced Certificate, Certificate and Single Subject levels. Single subjects are offered mainly as upgrading subjects for English, Mathematics or business subjects to enable a student qualify for enrolling in a main course in Business Management. The large majority of our courses are examined by the University itself. Information and communication technology (ICT) is integrated into all our course offerings. The School also offers Management and Computer related seminars during the holidays when the facilities are not in use.

The School has four Departments namely:

The School places a high value on research and has established a School Research Colloquium spearheaded by a panel consisting of nominated PhD holders a long with a Secretariat.  The Colloquium meets monthly to review research papers in readiness for publication into journals and books, among other responsibilities.
